I tried taking Terra Cotta jewellery to the next level last week and made patterns in the pendant and earring. It took me 3 evenings to finish this one but I loveeee the final product…I hope I will get better at it going forward. I am super excited with this one as I had a matching saree to wear with 🙂
Hi,
Excellent work !!!..i have tried making terracotta jewellery but finish is not good as yours..is that jhumkas made using mould..thanks
Hi!Thanks 🙂 I didn’t have any mould. I used my fingers to shape it..I did spend sometime on it to make both earring same size. Once I get little more experience with this jewelry making, I plan to post tutorial on it. I have made only 2 so far 🙂 Thanks for your comments 🙂
hi..
how did u bake these??
In the oven. your clay package will come with the temperature details. Thanks
i m from india…..where can i get the clay in india
I am not sure where its available in India but please check my comments, someone had given information about where you can buy in India. thanks
Hello,
I like your creation 🙂 I have been wanting to try my hand at terracotta too – can you tell me what clay you used?
Sculpey? Polymer clay? Did you use colored poly clay or did you paint on a base color? what paint did you use? TIA
Hi Kavitha! Thanks 🙂 I used this clay
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/1-75-pounds-terra-cotta-sculpey-original-oven-clay-995043/
I used fabric paint from craft stores but I am not very happy… still trying to find the perfect paint.
Thank you for sharing this information… Also I read else where that water based acrylic paints are good on poly clay.
I now have my own clay 🙂 all set to mold away!! The next challenge I am facing is carving… how were you able to carve out dot shapes and other shapes on your jewellery?
Also how did you attach the gold beads to your Jhumki? Did you bake them together? Did you use wires inside?
Sorry to be bugging you so much – just that I am very excited and eager to make my own jewelry… 🙂
Hi Kavitha, I used tip of pen and cap of bottles to make shapes and carving…used all possible things from home…dont have any tools to do it. i attached them with wire that can be baked..you can ask your local electrical shop. they are called nichrome wire. enjoy! 🙂
